"Let the picture paint itself."
Born in West Tennessee and having spent much of my youth living in Indiana, I now live in Jackson, Tennessee.
I am a self-taught artist, ever developing my painting knowledge and abilities over the years. Always drawn to the uniqueness of watercolor, my early paintings were realism with a twist of whimsy. I use strength and vibrancy of color along with over-sized or exaggerated subject matter to create strong compositions. My art has evolved in recent years into a more contemporary style of bold geometric shapes and effusive vibrant color. I use both positive and negative line to guide the viewer through my painting. I enjoy using a minimum amount of clean line and mark making for maximum effect, precision being necessary to achieve my result. Most often I prefer deckle-edged framing as I feel that a successful piece of art is complete with its own personality and synergy of emotion and expression in its entirety. I now offer prints for purchase. Please go to my Contact page and let me know your interest and I will get back to you with pricing within a day or two. I am a signature member of the Tennessee Watercolor Society, the Southern Watercolor Society, and the Jackson Visual Arts Association. I feel blessed to have received a number of awards over the years and I continue daily to explore the world of water media. |
